Langdon Charity Employer of the Year

Langdon AwardS

A charity which helps adults with learning disabilities to lead independent lives through securing employment has named Strettons as its 2016 Employer of the Year.

Langdon, which was established in 1992 and helps young adults in London and Manchester, named Strettons as its ‘Langdon 2016 Employer of the Year’ after it created a position within the firm for Langdon member Jonathan Kramer.

Inspired by attending the Langdon Business Breakfast in 2013, Strettons Director Benjamin Tobin immediately wanted to create an opportunity for a Langdon member to work with the company. Jonathan joined Strettons shortly after, working one day a week as an administration assistant.

Reflecting on working with Jonathan, Benjamin Tobin comments: “I am very proud that Strettons is having such a positive impact on Jonathan’s life. In truth, working with Jonathan and Langdon has also helped us. We have a willing and enthusiastic member of the team and our staff benefit from supporting a charity which plays a hugely positive role in helping adults with learning disabilities gain confidence and independence. Knowing that we are contributing towards and engaging in something worthwhile, whilst at the same time making a lasting difference to Jonathan’s life is fantastic.”

Gary Skovron, Chief Executive of Langdon, comments: “For Jonathan, working in a friendly environment at Strettons has been nothing short of life changing. He has developed new skills, become truly part of a team, learnt how to set his own routine and stick to it, and has really grown in self-confidence.”

Jonathan presented Benjamin Tobin with the award at Langdon’s 2016 Business Breakfast which took place on 9 November. Attended by over 250 people, the Business Breakfast helped raise £80,000 for the charity, the largest total ever raised at this annual event.
