Strettons Announce Outstanding Success Rate in APC Qualification

As a continually growing firm, the development of our staff is a key priority for Strettons. With nearly 120 team members across our three offices, we know that supporting professional development is critical to success and job satisfaction. This is particularly important for our graduate employees. As a result, we are delighted that since 2015, 13 out of 13 of our graduates have achieved a remarkable 100% success rate in the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), the training scheme graduates need to complete on the job to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor.

We feel that this speaks well to the calibre of graduates we have at the firm, and also as a reflection of the support Strettons provides to them from day 1 and throughout their journey to becoming certified.  We recognise that the APC is a rigorous and demanding assessment, so we have systems in place to support and guide our graduates.

Through the help of our various departments and services, Strettons offer a route to the APC which enables candidates to gain valuable hands-on access to some disciplines from some of the industry’s leaders. Placement of structured programmes helps graduates gain exposure to their chosen competencies and meaningful, relevant experience.

Throughout the graduate preparation, Strettons’ specialised senior staff provide regular advice and mentorship. Many of our APC accredited graduates are still at the company and are a great source of advice to those who are now going through the same process.

Added to this mixture of support, we have three APC assessors in-house who share their in-depth knowledge and clarify expectations. With our senior Chartered Surveyors to oversee papers and mock presentations, candidates can feel prepared for their presentations. Of course, with their hard work and commitment, it is little wonder that they are enjoying such outstanding success!

Simon Isaacs, Associate Director in the Valuation & Advisory Services team and one of our in-house APC assessors, commented on the process saying, "We provide in-house training where graduates take responsibility for the topics covered.  Throughout the training process, we monitor a candidate’s progress, and once the candidate, their supervisor and counsellor agrees that they are ready for the APC interview, a stringent mock interview and submission process is undertaken, upon successful completion of this, they will move forward towards the final assessment. We are proud to have achieved 13 out of 13 passes since the process has been implemented and believe our success will continue at future assessments."
