Ben Tobin, BSc FRICS Chartered Surveyor

On leaving the University of Reading, Ben worked at the Israel Museum Department of Antiquities in Jerusalem as a surveyor of Archaeological Excavations before returning to London and working in the West End, first in a small Chartered Surveyor’s practice and then for a major property company. Ben is one of the most experienced property receivers and property auctioneers in the country.

On joining Strettons, he worked as part of the valuation team and first went on the rostrum as an auctioneer in 1979. Ben took his first Property Receivership appointment in 1992 and is one of the most experienced property receivers in the industry. Ben is a Trustee of two charities and advises others.

In November 2019, Ben stepped down as Chairman of the firm. Ben’s time is spent mainly in Property Receivership, incorporating advice to both lenders and borrowers with experience of fraud and negligence cases and advising High Net Worth individuals on property investment and other matters. He has considerable experience advising charities on property matters and was one of only two chartered surveyors in the UK on the Charity Commission Panel of Receivers and Manager.

In his receivership role, he has wide experience dealing with cases involving off-shore ownership, fraud and other related crime. He has taken some very high profile appointments where discretion is of overriding importance.
